Effective Date: August 14, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Fake Voice ("the App"), available on iOS, Android, and Windows, and as a web portal. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain terms, what data we collect, what we send to our processing partners, what we keep on our own servers, how long we keep it, and how you can have it deleted. By using the App you agree to the terms below.
2. Definitions
- Account Data: Your email address, name, and sign-in method.
- Voice Sample: The recording or uploaded audio file you provide to create a voice clone.
- Voice Clone: The synthetic voice model created from a Voice Sample, plus its preview clip and optional avatar image.
- Generated Audio: Speech you create with the App using a stock or cloned voice.
- Consent Record: The permanent log we keep proving you agreed to our cloning terms before a given Voice Clone was created.
- Usage Data: Your character balance, purchase history, and how many characters you've generated.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Account Data
When you sign in with email/password, Google, or Microsoft, we store your email address, name, which platform you signed up on, and sign-in timestamps, so your account and character balance follow you across devices.
3.2 Voice Samples and Cloning
When you record or upload a Voice Sample, it is sent directly to our voice-processing partner, Speechify, to build the Voice Clone. We do not store the raw sample on our own servers — it passes through our systems only for the moment it takes to forward the request, and is retained afterward only by Speechify, under their own terms. What we do keep on our servers is the resulting Voice Clone's preview audio clip, an optional avatar image, and the voice's name and language, so it can appear in your library. We also permanently record that you gave consent: your account ID, email, IP address, device/browser information, the exact consent text you agreed to, the voice's name, and the time you agreed — kept even if you later delete the voice itself, so there is always proof of who authorized a given clone. This record cannot be deleted, including by us, because its entire purpose is to serve as reliable evidence if a voice's origin is ever disputed.
3.3 Generated Audio
Text-to-speech audio you generate is sent to your device and saved there — as a file (Windows) or in your browser's local storage (web). We do not keep a copy of your generated audio on our servers.
3.4 Balance and Usage Data
We track your character balance, character-pack purchases, and how many characters you've generated, so we can meter usage and grant what you've paid for. These fields are only ever changed by our servers — never directly by the app on your device — so a purchase or a generation always reflects what actually happened.
3.5 Microphone Access
The App only accesses your microphone while you are actively recording a Voice Sample for cloning. It is never used to listen in the background, and text-to-speech features (including "speak clipboard" on Windows) read text only — they never touch the microphone.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
- Contractual Necessity: Processing your Voice Sample and Account Data to provide voice cloning and text-to-speech.
- Legitimate Interests: Keeping the Consent Record, to protect you, us, and anyone whose voice is cloned from misuse claims.
- Legal Obligation: Retaining records where required to demonstrate compliance with applicable law.
5. Third-Party Services
5.1 Speechify
Voice cloning and text-to-speech are powered by Speechify's API. Your Voice Sample and the text you convert to speech are sent to Speechify to be processed; their handling of that data is governed by their own terms. See Speechify's AI Voice API Terms.
5.2 Firebase / Google Cloud
Your account, Voice Clone records, and Usage Data are stored using Google's Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, and our servers run on Google Cloud Functions. This is standard cloud infrastructure — Google does not use this data for its own purposes.
5.3 App Stores and Payment Processing
Purchases are handled entirely by the Apple App Store, Google Play, or the Microsoft Store, depending on your platform. We never see or store your payment card details — we only receive confirmation that a purchase was made, so we can credit your account.
5.4 Website Analytics
Our website (fakevoice.app) uses Firebase Analytics to understand traffic to our marketing pages. This is separate from the App itself; app stores and operating systems may separately collect basic diagnostic data (such as crash reports) under their own privacy policies, outside of anything we control.
6. Data Retention
- Voice Samples: Not retained by us. Retained by Speechify per their own policy.
- Voice Clones (preview audio, avatar, name): retained until you delete the voice in the App.
- Consent Records: Retained permanently, even after a voice is deleted — see §3.2 for why.
- Generated Audio: Never on our servers — stays on your device until you delete it there.
- Account and Usage Data: Retained for as long as your account exists.
7. Security Measures
Data in transit is encrypted. Your balance and usage data can only be modified by our servers, never written directly by the app — so even someone tampering with the app on their own device cannot grant themselves characters they haven't paid for. No system is entirely risk-free, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International Data Transfers
Our infrastructure (Google Cloud) and processing partners (Speechify) may process data outside your home jurisdiction. We rely on their own compliance measures for those transfers.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
10. Your Choices and Rights
- Delete a voice clone: Use the delete control in the App's Clone screen at any time. This removes the voice from Speechify and from our database — except the Consent Record, which is kept permanently per §3.2.
- Revoke microphone access: Via your device or browser settings at any time (this disables voice cloning, but not text-to-speech).
- Delete your account and data: Email us at the address below with your account's sign-in email and we will process the request. This isn't yet a self-service, in-app action, so please allow us time to respond and confirm.
- Access your data: Email us to request a copy of what we hold about your account.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy as the App changes. We will post the revised version here with a new effective date.
